1. When did you start martial arts, and what motivated you to begin?
I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when I was a high school student after noticing a new gym that had opened near my school. I was drawn to the fact that it allows you to control and overcome an opponent without using punches or kicks, relying instead on technique and strategy.
2. What made you decide to become an instructor?
I found great joy in seeing others succeed using the techniques I taught them. It made me proud to know that my teaching could positively influence not only their martial arts journey but also their lives beyond the gym.
3. What are your goals as an instructor or personal aspirations?
My goal is to help people find happiness through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I truly love this sport, and I want my students to experience the same enjoyment and fulfillment that it has brought to my life. As an instructor, I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can train without unnecessary injuries, build strong relationships like family, and continue practicing for many years to come.
Personally, I aspire to become an instructor and competitor who is respected by everyone. I want to continue competing in as many tournaments as possible, demonstrating my skills and proving my dedication through my actions and achievements.
4. What message would you like to share with your students?
Above all, I hope my students can practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for many years without suffering serious injuries. I want them to find happiness through Jiu-Jitsu and experience the positive impact it can have on their lives. There was a time when I focused only on winning. I pushed myself too hard and suffered several major injuries as a result.
That experience taught me an important lesson that I always want to share with my students: "It's not the strongest person who lasts the longest; it's the person who lasts the longest who becomes truly strong." I hope my students train smart, stay healthy, and enjoy the journey so they can continue growing both on and off the mats for many years to come.
5. What advice would you give to someone hesitating to start martial arts?
I believe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can change not only your physical health but also your life. It teaches discipline, confidence, perseverance, and helps you grow both mentally and physically.
I don't know what may be causing someone to hesitate, but I truly believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can help them overcome many of their challenges. Taking the first step is often the hardest part, but it can also be the beginning of a positive change in their life. My advice is simple: come and try it for yourself. You may discover something that changes your life for the better.
